COACH EXPECTATIONS
Communication: Communication goes a long way with a coach, no matter the situation.. If you do not communicate it, we just assume each day moves forward the same as the day before.
Be On Time: Always be on time. Tardiness is not acceptable.
Participation During Games: All athletes will be required to help with keeping the scorebook, line judging & possibly scoreboard during home & away games. All athletes will be placed on a rotating schedule. Parents will be asked to volunteer for admissions & concessions.
Dressing Out: All athletes must be completely dressed out & ready to go when daily practices and warm-ups prior to games begin. This includes, but not limited to, dressed (jersey, shorts, knee pads, shoes), your hair begin up and completely finished & all jewelry off.
Appropriate Time To Talk: When others are talking, we need to respect each other, listen & not interrupt. When the coach is coaching, everyone needs to be listening, not playing or talking. Others are trying to listen & learn.
Attitude: Attitude is very important when you play a team sport. A bad attitude, negativity, making fun of others & not listening to instruction interrupts practices. It is hard to build you up as an individual and hard to grow a team if even one person is a bad apple.
Drama-We have a lot to learn in a very short time. We do not have time for any extras. We need for athletes to show a higher level of maturity, treat each other with respect & not mistreat teammates, etc.
Pick-Up & Drop-Off: Athlete transportation must be on time for pick-up and drop-off. It is extremely important that time is respected by everyone involved.
Absences: If an athlete is absent from practice(s) or game(s), playing time will be affected.
Phone Use: No phones will be used during practices or games unless it is communicated to the coach for specific circumstances.
24 Hour Rule: Please understand, that at times as coaches, we have tough decisions to make. We also understand that when it comes to our children, we can have heightened emotions. If for any reason a situation arises between athletes, parents and/or coaches, we ask that all remember to adhere to the 24 hour rule. This is a cool off period before meeting to discuss any issue at hand. Cooler heads prevail.
Playing Time: We do not discuss playing time with parents. Your children will always know where they stand when it comes to where they are or where they need to be as a player. This is information they will need to communicate to you. Your children will be adults very soon and we would like for them to come directly to the coach and not parent to coach, so that they get the opportunity to learn how to communicate or resolve situations on their own. We spend countless hours with your children and their playing time is decided from what we see. All court time is earned, not given, and if we feel your child is not ready for this responsibility, they will continue to work hard during practices to earn it. Coaches will choose the 6 players that go on the court that they feel will win that particular game. Who you see on the court, is a result of what we see during practices or warm-ups prior to a game, not a result of playing favorites.
